Press Release

Department of Passport Nepal
September 01, 2022

Today, the Honorable Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Narayan Khadka inaugurated the passport museum. The department had decided to establish a passport museum on June 8 last year. At present, various types of passports have been collected in the passport museum till Vikram Samvat 1957. In addition, arrangements have been made to view using kiosk machines through electronic means. This is the first museum in Nepal built using this type of technology.

About 300 passports and various documents have been collected including sample passports written on one-page Nepali paper. The Department of Archaeology, National Museum Camp and National Archives assisted in the technical aspects of the Passport Museum and in collecting old passports. The passport department will soon make an arrangement that can be viewed through the department's website. The department has been requesting to provide passports or documents suitable for keeping in the passport museum.
